Get Started Being a Catholic Writer

It's hard not to be discouraged when you read the news and see all the anti-life, anti-Catholic filth that parades through the internet like some kind of demented circus come to town.  From government leaders who claim Catholicism while rejecting the very foundations of the faith, to everyday Catholics who send their kids to CCD but never think of actually attending Mass, the signs of spiritual dysfunction are everywhere and it can feel overwhelming.  However, it is in the middle of this darkness that Christ promises us His grace will shine most brightly but first we have to be willing to light that lamp inside and do our homework to figure out how to market ourselves and our work.

One of the ways that you can begin to market the very positive and life-affirming teachings of the Catholic Church is to write a book. People respect books and give them attention they don't necessarily give to blogs or other forms of writing, no matter how good the content, and it's well worth taking the time to develop a book.  In fact, an ebook is just one of many ways to begin building a following of believers and non-believers alike.  Yes, you may have to deal with some people who will be antagonistic to what you have to say - but the fact that they read your book means that in some way what you have said has reached them.  Think of mortal sin as a grievous bodily injury.  The first time someone comes over to inspect it and touches anywhere close to that wound, the patient is going to scream in pain and then - in many cases - get angry at the person who touched it no matter how benign the intentions.  The angrier the response, the more they need the help of your message.

If your thought right now is, "Sure, Brandy, writing a book sounds great, but I wouldn't know how to get started," I am here to help.  I have written an eBook called "How to Write an eBook in 40 Days (or less)" which is available for FREE in the Amazon kindle store now through April 27th.  You do not have to have a kindle to read the book, as Amazon does have a kindle emulator that you can download to your desktop, laptop, or tablet for reading.  This book won't just get you started off on the right foot for writing your book, it will also tell you some of the things you need to do as you are getting ready to market that book.

If you still have questions when you're done, need advice, or want to report back on the progress of your book, you can join me on Twitter @WriterBrandy or like me on Facebook.  I am usually around.  I also provide tips and helpful suggestions at http://40daywriter.com, and I occassionally will host webinars for further instruction. I look forward to reading your work sometime in the very near future :)
