How to Pick This Year's Presidential Winner

Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump, Bernie Sanders, Dr. Ben Carson, Rocky De La Fuente (I know, I'd never heard of him either until I looked), Martin O' Malley, Jeb Bush, Chris Christie, Ted Cruz, Carly Fiorina, Jim Gilmore, Mike Huckabee, John Kasisch, Rand Paul, and Rick Santorum. The list is long and with so many candidates saying whatever they think the public wants to hear, it's hard to determine based on what they say who is going to be the best one to run the country.

Fortunately, we have the water crisis in Flint, Michigan to help us. You see, where you see a crisis, I see an opportunity for candidates to step up and engage in some proof-in-the-pudding leadership. So I'm issuing a challenge. I say we elect our next president based on which one of these candidates are willing to take their entire campaign war chest and spend it helping out the people of Flint, Michigan.

Because whoever that brave soul turns out to be is the exact kind of person we need to run this country: someone willing to sacrifice their own personal gain for the good of the people. This is a person who would prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that their words are not just words, but are sincere and sincerely meant. They would be willing to sacrifice their own lives in order to serve the lives of the people of Flint, Michigan.

That kind of leadership is exactly what this country needs. It needs someone who is not seeking another title so they can lord it over everyone else, but is sincere in their interests of serving the people. It needs someone who can put the needs of the people ahead of their own ego.

If it sounds ridiculous to think that one presidential candidate's campaign war chest would be enough to solve what the mayor of Flint, Michigan thinks is a $1.5 billion dollar problem, I already explained in my last post that this problem could be solved with $35 million dollars. Hillary Clinton has every dime of that in her war chest alone. She has a lot more than that in her private assets.

I would love to see all of the candidates step up and be willing to put their hopes and dreams on the line to serve Flint, Michigan's people. I would love to see them fighting together to solve that crisis. What an amazing example they would set for us all, and I don't know it would make the picking any easier but I do know it would uplift everyone to see leadership like that in action.

Maybe none are willing. If so, then I have sadly misjudged at least one of them, and none of them are truly worthy.

This is a time for the wisdom of Solomon. Will our candidates choose to tear the baby in two because they are pursuing their own selfish gain, or will they love it enough to give it to someone else if that's what it takes to save its life? America can be torn in two by the selfishness of this year's choice, or it can be saved. It will depend upon whom we choose for President.
